- Summarise the reasons for couples remaining childless:
a involuntarily
b voluntarily.
- As a class debate the topic: Electing to remain childfree is
a selfish choice that couples will ultimately regret.
- Investigate the range of books, magazines and other guides available
that provide information about pregnancy and parenthood. Also
look for and identify the information available to people about
choosing not to become parents. What differences are there in
the type of information available to each group?
- The media, through advertising and articles in magazines and
on television, present images of babies and parenthood that are
almost exclusively positive and designed to be extremely appealing.
Find examples of such images and explain how they may distort
the real idea of what parenting is all about.
